Hmm....this seems tempting! Yet having had the 100-300mm F/4, 24-70mm 2.8, 55-200mm DC etc....Sigma has yet to perfect its HSM and speed!

I found the HSM on my 70-200 to be very quick

If the 100-300 was slow focussing you should have got it exchanged. The 24-70 isn't designed to be quick and the 55-200's a cheap lens.

I've got the 70-200 f2.8 and the 120-300 f2.8 and they're well up to anything Canon can make.

50-150 strikes me as an odd focal length.... 50 isn't very wide and 150 isn'y very long.

I think I'd still choose a sigma 70-200 myself.

I have just bought the Sigma 70-300mm with Macro and i would say for the price (£99) it is spot on and very fast on focus too.

not a 2.8 and will most likely be more expensive than the 50-150 sigma or 50-135 tamron

Looks like it doesn't, for both focusing and zooming.
