Nikkor 80-400 VR - worra lorra lens
Discussion
I just been doing the local fete/boat race/ raft race with the 80-400 VR.
Amazed at how sharp pics are in bad light from distance. (400 asa - medium res to give me 700 pics on the card)
Sorry these are 800 wide so they migh screw up in the 'sqush' click on them if they do. (They are also squashed to hell for the village website - so very noisy, but mostly no crop, just a resize)
This from about 10 metres
This from about 20 metres
This from about 30 metres
This from about 40 metres

nice pics Steve!
I used my 80-400VR in anger for the first time today, photographing a dog show of all things.
Slightly worried to find it doesn't focus properly when it has a polariser on it, but I can live with that, like you say it's a hell of a lens.

hi ben,
that will be because the polariser takes 1-2 stops of light, which will take that lens towards f/8, which is where autofocus starts becoming a bit hit and miss.
