Hi all,

I'm finally going to take the plunge into the modern world, and replace my ageing Canon FD system with digital. It's a Canon F1N, T90 and assorted lenses etc, which have served me well, but their time has finally come!

What do people generally do with their old stuff? Options include eBay (time consuming), part-ex (not as lucrative as eBay?), or leave it in a box in the loft (the lazy but unrewarding option). Any feedback on how well these have worked for you would be great.

Thanks,
Pete

Your best bet I'd say is ebay although prices on there seem to be very random for film camera's these days. As a part ex a camera shop will either refuse completely or give you next to nothing as I've discovered over the last few years.

I'd think about hanging onto the gear though esp the T90. I used to have one a few years ago, cracking bit of kit. Must admit i'm a little tempted to ask how much you'd want for it even though i'd need to get some lenses as well!! I have Canon EOS Digi gear but i still have older manual camera's too... I'm a big fan of the Ziess Contaflex series of camera's and have several of those....

Gave my 2 T90 bodies and about 6 lenses and flash to my daughter when she started college, she wanted to do photography as well as the boring subjects. Fitted in nicely as I wanted to go AF aat that time...EOS 1n anyone?

Martin.

Hmm, this is a bit like house clearance I think - never sure whether you need to pay or be paid!

Is the F1n an F1n or a New F1 - apparently there is a difference though from the items on eBay this is not always evident and I can never remember the specifics that identify one from the other.

I would guess that the F1 body and T90 with a standard lens would max at around £100, maybe £120 each on eBay, maybe more if there were enough interested parties around. FD lenses are very cheap mainly - unless the large L lenses or the tilt and shift.

Collector level with mint boxes and never used can fetch a little more - but I doubt that is what you have if you have had "good service".

I suspect the FD kit I have will be buried with me.
