Looking for a bit of advice. Have a couple of weeks to myself (been made redundant, figure I'll enjoy myself for a bit), and want to have a play both with the car and my new D-SLR camera.

But most of the places I know have good scenery and roads (N. Wales, S. Wales, Cumbria) also have some very rabid SCPs. So I'm looking for somewhere new to drive to, drive around, take a variety of photos and generally chill out in the countryside (bit of walking would be nice too!).

I live in Coventry, so Scotland and Cornwall are right out as too far to get there for just 2-3 days.

What do you all reckon? Is N.Yorks a good bet? Anywhere else you can think of?

Thanks,

M.

IoM is a good call - bound to be able to get some scenic/atmospheric/moody conditions. You can usually find all four seasons somewhere on the island every day of the year! hehe

Darset (see Joust's standards to beat ) or Devon with coastlines and interesting roads and moors....?

Currently planning a 4 day jaunt down to the nurburgring and back via spa-francorchamps.

Should be a blast, hoping for lots of photogenic scenery on route as well. I'm told here that it's entirely feasible inside 2 days and that there is lovely driving to be had on some of the back routes.
