It was a bit wet, so track time was cut short. Here are some of the better pictures I managed to get -

Porsche 911 Carrera RS -

Mazda RX7 -

Citroen Saxo -

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI -

Honda Integra Type R -

Porsche 911 Carrera RS -

Lotus Elise Mk. 1 -

Cheers,
Iain

I really like the first Carrera shot. Great imo. Could you share some exif info?

The shots of the RX7 and the Evo are good too. The Evo is a V rather than a VI btw

Thanks for correcting me!

EXIF data for the fist Carrera shot is as follows -

Auto Exposure,
1/20 (0.050 secs) exposure time,
ISO equivalent ; 100,
Focal Length ; 17.1mm,
Aperture ; f/3.6.

Thanks very much for your opinion. I didn't use a flash, as the shots with it showed up all the rain drops and made the photo look really spotty, dark and grainy. The non-flash look also accentuates the water pouring off the cars, and gives the cars a greater sense of speed IMO.

I think a longer lens would improve them...there's too much distracting background stuff going on (IMHO). I like the overall effect they give..ie: it was frikkin miserable weather.

Martin.

How does one go about getting shots like that?

Lock focus, pan, then shoot. Or pan, lock focus and shoot?

Track the car with AF, keep on tracking while panning, then shoot. You don't lock focus. Just use AI Servo and follow. (Well.... that's what I do)

Usually, digital cameras save the JPG images taken with EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) data. Camera settings and scene information are recorded by the camera into the image file. Examples of stored information are shutter speed, date and time, focal length, exposure compensation, metering pattern and if a flash was used.

Yes - for the above I used Autofocus, and no flash - the consequently slower shutter speed caused the trails and blurs of parts of the cars.

Yes - any sane person would've stayed away. . .
