what photo editor
Discussion
Hi guys,
What photo editor would you recommend.
Having just bought the camera, funds are a little limited, so I was thing og photoshop elements perhaps. If possible, I would like to have something that covers RAW format.
Not sure what features I would like, as I'm really in to taking pics and not editing them ... (wishful think perhaps), but I guess cropping, brightness / exposure adjustments, perhaps adding text would be a few features that I would need.
Thanks,
Martin

The Gimp www.gimp.org is a high-end opensource picture editor.
It's of course free and is well doumented on the web too. For example, there is an entire book online at http://gimp-savvy.com/ or tutorials for the most important basic things on picture editing: www.gimp.org/tutorials/Lite_Quickies/

After the camera/tripod/bag/flash/printer I need to save up bfore I buy anything else (rainy day and all that).

Martin, the installation process is a bit unusual indeed. The Gimp is like a Series Land Rover: all controls appear unusual, and there are lots of them because it's very versatile. Driving itself is easy and very powerful, and you can use as many features as you desire.
Now that the engine is running and you're in the driver seat, you may find that a good insight into steering wheel, main gear lever and pedals are the tutorials on basic things like rotating, resizing, cropping etc. www.gimp.org/tutorials/Lite_Quickies/
The full manual (the help files) are available online too: http://docs.gimp.org/en/
Check out the Gimp user group for forums and sophisticated feature tutorials http://gug.sunsite.dk/
