Its from Hong Kong. Postage + import tax will equal the normal price. Thats a good enough reason to recommend she doesnt buy it, I think.

He sells on ebay. Lots of people said he was very reliable.. Just ordered fom him. Goods shipped to you from UK. No tax/duty.

though I would ask about warrenty.. it's ok on lenses, not sure on cameras though.

The cheapest deal I know of for an S3 IS in the UK WAS from Purelygadgets.com a couple of months ago at a tad under £290 but I just checked and they are somewhat more than that now.

A J Purdy are offering for £327 which is closer to the realistic target mark I reckon.

I have an S3 IS which I think is excellent value at the money mentioned even though I am not into the video aspect and have done no more than try it to see what it offers.

You only get a 64Mb SD card with them and the 4 AA batteries included lasted about 120 shots and a lot of menu browsing. A bigger card and a separate provision of rechargeable AA batteries and a fast charger are advisable.

The wide angle adaptor for the lens works well enough if your friend has the need for wide angle. It takes the standard 37mm (35mm equivalent) to about 28mm.

There is also a telephoto adaptor available to take the 432mm max zoom to about 640mm. I have not tried that.

You could also keep your eye on the Canon Outlet. Though they seem to be pushing out a lot of EOS350Ds at the moment !

I'd stay away from Pixmania. They are known for poor customer service (and poor delivery too) and manuals only in French.
