The sigma 8mm is supposed to be pretty good, but for a little more money you can have the Nikkor 10.5mm.
Both are the thick end of 500 notes, for what is basically a very specialist lens, so you might want to look at either something wide but more versatile (sigma 10-20mm for instance) or otherwise something that gets you the fisheye effect without breaking the bank, such as the peleng mentioned above.

"Mirror occasionally catches lens at infinity" . . . sounds like a but of a disaster waiting to happen . . .
Anyways . . . I have the Nikon 10.5, I really like the full frame image and if used in certain ways it can look very non fisheye but ultra wide, or very fisheye . . . little bit of CA at the edges of the frame sometimes but this is something most fisheyes do I believe . . .
It's not cheap - but I bought mine in the US so saves a few quid . . .

Was thinking about the Nikon - off to hong kong this week (reckon you can pick one up for £350) so thought i could justify the investment....
Was thinking abt a circular image - you can create some great effects. The full frame seems more versatile though.
Anyone actually tried the sigma??
many thanks
