i wonder if anyone can help me, i just went to use my canon digital ixus 400 last weekend, and after taking one picture, the camera stopped working and it came up with " memory card error" on the screen.
i've tried both of the memory cards i have and get the same results.
the camera powers up ok, the screen shows the view as normal, but it just has memory card error written accross it, and when you press the shutter button it just beeps a warning.

is it possible that both my memory card would have failed simultaneously?....or is it more likely that theres a fault with the camera itself? (and what would be even nicer would be that its a known problem, and its easy to fix!)

Off the top of 'me head, I'd say - you're buggered. Sounds like the camera to me.

after a bit more googling, i've found out that its a 'known' problem, and that i've got to send my camera back to canons for a (hopefully) free fix.

Ah, I had this on mine, I bit the bullet and sold it on eBay (with a truthful description) for a reduced price. It was only an intermittant problem. Didn't know it was a known issue. I bought the 750 to replace it.
