Shuttle and ISS

[tank slapper]

A shot of the space shuttle and ISS in orbit:

Taken through a telescope I guess. Open the image full size to see it properly.

??? How, what , where is this taken? What is the grey bit? If it's the earth then why is there no details and where is it taken from. If it's the moon I would have thought it would be much smaller in comparison to the shuttle. If the round is just the edge of the telescope lense then why is the background grey?

So many questions and so little info. Put me out of my misery. Please.
