Such a shame that the upstand dominates the centre of the frame. I love the rest of them, how do you find the XPan to use ?

Hi,

I quite like the post to add a bit of foreground interest but thats subjective init! Ive got a couple of other variations, Ill scan them in a bit and show you. I love the xpan, and I think i am getting my head around some of the compositional issues. Now its time to understand the technical ones! Its a great camera for street photos, very quiet and inobtrusive. I think mine is broken already though as all the photos are wonky when levelled with a spirit bubble on the hotshoe. It seems that the viewfinder is at a jaunty angle!

Love the shots Matt. I've wanted one of these cameras for years. Have you seen the work of Horst Hamann? He's produced a book New York Vertical. They are absolutely wonderful images.

Incidentally,

the image quality from the 503cw is amazing, this was shot on provia 100 with a 150mm prime, handheld:

My canon was never that sharp and the colours were never that good even after pissing about in photoshop!

I'm wondering what the image quality would be like if you were to shoot 2 or 3 images using that xpan, and then stitch them together with Autostitch.exe?

Because trust me, Autostitch is fantabulous.

Absolutely I think I'd personally like to see either the whole post or not at all.

It's a camera I'd love to try. I'm obsessed with my Voigtlander for its urban 'invisibility'.

Jagshemash,

xpan is rapidly becoming my favourite camera ever. 90mm lens is en route which should be great and open up some compositional options. Glad you like the shot. I might buy a polaroid camera this weekend but thats a different kettle of ballgames...
