Hoping for you guys to help with my camera choice , i am about to upgrade from my handy little compact cam to something a bit better , i'd thought about a DSLR but they are a bit pricey and probally over specd for me . I've heard about "bridge cameras" and a freind has told me to look at a pansonic DMC FZ7 , any comments or similar recomends ? I' ll be using it mainly for outdoor action shots such track days , mountain biking and skiing etc , my bugdet was 250 -300 quid .
Thanx for any advice Rich.

Don't go for a Canon Powershot unless you like pictures that come out with a green tinge. The Flourite lenses that some Canons use cause merry hell with the colouration of a picture. Having said that Flourite lenses tend to be good for low light shots.

so far everyone slams me for my unwavering love of nikons but they have a better mettering system imo as the cannon one is to vage to me and the fact that i still use my mums 30 year old slrs for fun and get better pics with them than most can muster with dig stuff

I'd be very supprised if any pro's agreed canons meetering was poorer than Nikons!

In camera Meetering is a relativly blunt tool anyhow and its more important to understand the scene and what/when the meetering will get wrong than anything else.

The Pany f27 thingey seems like a well loved camera, but a word of warning, I went for a bridge, or prosumer camera, first ended up regreting it selling and buying a dSLR anyhow, cost me more in the long run.
