I was looking for photo's of Angkor when I came upon this site: http://web1.omniblog.com/_smartsite/m

Check out the:

"Cooke Portrait PS945 Lens 229mm, f/4.5 lens

Mike, the owner of Betterlight, was kind enough to let me try out a new Cooke Soft Focus Portrait lens for a few days. from about f11-90, it behaves as a normal 230mm 4x5 lens.. with the exception that it is *very* sharp. From f11 to f4.5, it produces an increasing soft-focus effect, subtle at f11, and then jumping exponentially from f5.6 to f4.5.

Images captured with Betterlight 6K (9000x12000) in a color balanced IR mode (IR blocking filter not used). Light was early morning, and shot at ISO 2000, f22. (There are some multicolored 'wispy' artifacts.. these are caused by the moving of some cob webs)"

Having travelled round Asia quite a bit, and having experienced the heat and humidity, my hat goes off to the guy for being so committed

Anybody able to identify the tripod and head?

Looks like a Gitzo CF tripod, and a ReallyRightStuff head?

Looks like a Gitzo 1227 and Arca Swiss B1, which strangely is exactly the setup I have.

Given his next sentence mentions f11-f4.5, ie has a habit of talking UP the aperture range, I'm willing to bet that's a typo and it should be f9

Do you like your set up Stuart?

Am seriously considering Gitzo CF legs (though, which one I don't know yet) and a Manfrotto 410 geared head, as recommended by The Boy Gravy.
