A web design client of mine owns a big 7 bedroom villa in Valencia, and asked if I would be willing to shoot her villa in spain in return for free accomodation there.

We've spoken, and agreed that I go, bring you lot with me, and accomodation will be free

There are 7 bedrooms, the biggest with bathroom is mine, Im a greedy piggy you see, oink oink.

The plan is:

1) Competition theme, we all aim to get the best shots of the same stuff, for her to use commercially, interior and exterior shots etc.
2) Client is entitled to use our images commercially to promote her home.
3) We shoot the the pool, the house, the beach, furniture, local countryside etc
4) We explore local attractions, markets and exotic buildings/places nearby, and shoot those too.

It seems none of us will be driving down. Ive edited this post with flight info which is confirmed below.

Date: arrive 1st march, leave 4th march. We will be the first ever staying guests, and need to leave the house in tip top condition, clean and just as we found it.

Ed Hasler has been kind enough to orgnise a model/friend of his, she will be coming too so we can shoot her on location.

Lets make the most of it. I might even cook for you lot one night too

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD:
1) This trip will be planned here on pistonheads, not via email. If you are interested in coming state so here, and agree the details of travel etc with fellow PHers. If your name is not on this list, let me know so I can update it:

1) UKBob
Without girlfriend

2) Graham@Reading - Yes
with partner?

3) ehasler - Yes

4) Megybounce YEAH
with partner? - NO

5) TonyHetherington - yes
with partner? - NO

6) TRACKDEMON
with partner?

7) EMMA
With Bikini - yes

8) Sarah, model
with model release - yes

2) I have arranged for us to stay at the villa for free, and we are not putting down a deposit. We are liable for any/all damages to the property. In the unlikely event that we cant agree who is responsible for any damage (ie cigarette burn on carpet) then we are all jointly liable. By coming you and anyone you bring agree to this term.

3) There are 7 Double bedrooms (mine being the one with the en suite... err, I think Ive mentioned that once already...) plus there are 4 bathrooms to share, ie more than enough! 2 of the Double bedrooms will have a double bed which can be seperated into two singles. So potentially we have space for 5 couples and 4 individuals, or 7 couples, ie 14 of us in total.

4) cars - I suggest one people carrier, megy? Lets split the cost between us. A taxi from the airport to the villa is 8-9 euros Im told.

5) We are expected to deliver high quality photos which the client can use to promote the property. We need shots of the interior (every single room and bedroom) as well as exterior, and local attractions. Could we agree that everyone shoot every room. Thus, the client has several sets of photos from which to choose her favourites. Upon arriving, every room needs to be shot without our clutter and luggage. ie, either shoot your room when we arrive, or the morning after. Do not unpack your belongings first (unless you intend to repack them when you shoot the room). This may be a free holiday, but it is also a photo assignment.

Be mindful of the other photographers, and our agreement that we will all be shooting all areas of the property, so keep it spotless at all times, so that others are free to shoot without having to clear up your mess first.

I would be grateful if we could all agree that we "clean as we go" keeping the place immaculate, and putting away dishes and glasses etc immediately after they have been used. Naturally the property will need to be returned to its former state of cleanliness before we depart.

EDITED AGAIN TO CONFIRM:
Gatwick to Valencia: EZY5151(easyjet) 12.15 - 15.30
Valencia to Gatwick: EZY5152(easyjet) 16.00 - 17.25
(About £60 with taxes, none of us booked "speedyboarding"
1) Megy, Easyjet, Gatwick, booked.
2) TonyHetherington, Easyjet, Gatwick, booked.
3) UKBob, EasyJet, Gatwick, booked.
4) ehasler, EasyJet, Gatwick, + booked hire car
NOTE: Megy is sorting out a people carrier for 7 of us... i think. Discuss more, then we can confirm what we are doing before booking anything else, then book that too.

Who is on any of these flights?
Stansted to Valencia:
EMMA P: EZY3839(easyjet) 12.45 - 16.05 £16.99

FR8321(ryanair) 07.30 - 11.00 £20

It'll be good to have you there and might be a bit of inspiration re: your "next level" thread. You'll get to see how bad my shots are outside of the studio too yes

If the villa is actually near/very close to Valencia city, you want to aim for March, preferably including the 19th & 20th.

Reason?

Fantastic experience.

As stated before, I am very interested in this. And would love the chance to compete and learn at the same time.

Flights from stansted and gatwick can be booked for a penny each way, £16.64 including tax, so that is not a lot really. I think Ryanair are cheaper, with Easyjet offering more daily flights.

Looks good!

Although the city would be quite erm, busy. What does everyone else think of that weekend?

It might be better not to go on that weekend. I will find out, but then again I dont think the villa is in the city, so we certainly wouldnt be in the middle of the festival as such. I'll find out more.

Would be a bit difficult to get some good pictures of the fountains and bull ring with all those people around. I agree that it would be an awesome atmosphere, but surely the weekend is about photography as well as the non photographic element(the fun), but i am happy to go with the flow.

The flight deals are so good if bought in advance, and on a busy weekend such as that then we might not get the usual deals.

If anyone is going to drive down, can i book some boot space, as i imagine maybe others too, for my studio lights please. Excess baggage might prove expensive.

I am super-mega-hugely-biggly-wobbly-massively-superly-duperly interested in this.

Please put my name down as a chosen one thumbup

(actually my parents own a part built place not far from Valencia; it's pretty much just bricks at the moment and will be in February too, but I'd like to go and see it never the less!)

Driving down is quite a mission for 5 or 6 people (and not cheap either) so flying is the way to go. Quite excited by opportunity so please do count me in (if you'd like me, that is)

Just a quick thought, I work at Luton airport, and so I get a good discount on hire cars, so I would have no problem in arranging 1 or maybe 2 depanding on how many people go/want to go a little further affield, i think the town is only about 5 miles away from a beach, and i believe its a fairly busy container port too.

Just another thought into the ideas pot to stir in and see what evolves.

Excellent! *annoints tony as one of the chosen excalibur/knighthood style using a profoto umbrella*

I forgot to add (as if it wasnt glaringly obvious) that the chosen will need to carry my bags and ferry me drinks, fan me under the hot sun whilst im shooting the models etc, as per the conditions outlined in my last thread

Megy, the cars sound good, thanks for that! I wonder if we'd be better off with a people carrier though, or two, I suppose it depends how many of us are going, how many spouses we bring, whether the models are coming too etc etc.

Ah, that's just the the main square. There's a massive fireworks display every evening at midnight (actually, might be 1am) and th whole city is littered with stuff like this;

so it is possible for interesting stuff without the crowds. Oh, and they set fire to them as well on the evening of the 19th!

Don't forget that the America's Cup is on as well so lots of expensive yacht type stuff down at the harbour. Very good public transport system that runs to the very wee hours at that time of year.

Bob: You really need to check out the food market as well!

I'll probably think about driving - it'll probably be quicker than flying based on the amount of time customs took to search my camera back when I flew back from Italy recently! hehe

Plus it means I can bring my lights

driving in what, Ed?

With 2 () drivers in a normal car you could do it in about 12 hours I think - the problem is that it takes you 3 hours to get to Calais; 1 on the train, 1 to get there and check in, and lose 1 hour in time difference.
