poah is about right although there are a couple of new Canon's on the way.

Practical reviews here

www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/printers_page.htm

A review of the first of the new Canon's is about to start at the same site.

Apparently there are, at the moment, a few prohblems with obtaining supplies of replacement ink for the new HP and a few comments about people getting machines swapped several times because of paper transport marks when using very high gloss papers. I would expect such problems to be short term though especially the ink supply situation.

FWIW I have a Canon that uses their latest 6 ink technology (but does not go up to A3 size) and the results continue to surprise me. Changing inks (separate for each colour) is a doddle and can be done mid printing when the printer insists on it! Should be interesting to see what the new larger machine can do with a few more inks.

I've got an R2400 bought having seen results from a semi-professional I know.
Results are stunning.
I've never had any issues with colour casts or quality - it just keeps churning out perfect prints.
Only niggle is the R2400 gets through the ink rather quickly and those cartridges are not cheap.

The R2400 always got good reviews but I went for the cheaper but just about as good canon i9950. This uses the six colour system mentioned previously and if new canons are about to come out you could get yourself a bargain. Would recomend canon either way.

canons new pigment ink printer looks good but the price is not. HP carts hold more but the also cost more, not sure about the cost per L in comparison to epson. the upside of the new HP is the ability to profile paper

I've got an Epson R1800 and I love the quality. Inks don't last a huge amount of time and are a little expensive - but the quality is stunning.

I use oyyy.co.uk for my replacement cartridges (unless anyone knows of cheaper - P&P included?)

Cripes!
I usually use 7dayshop.com
OYYY is over a quid cheaper P&P and at least 60p cheaper for each cartridge.

I need to order another 4 cartridges - I'll give OYY a go
Cheers! beer

My Canon i9950 works fine...and original Canon replacement cartridges through PhotoGlossy.com work out at £5.95 each (free p+p) which I don't think is too bad.

My Epson R800 (A4 version of the R1800) is very nice on the colour prints front, especially on great paper (Epson's Premium Glossy works well), but black and white comes out green.

I've been using an Epson 2100 and have been very impressed with the results. It has been superceded so you may get a bargain on eBay (£200 for a £600 RRP printer).
