Ok, so after spending too long here, Ive bought myself a shiny new D70S with 18-70 kit lens.
I plan on getting a 70-300 later as my main use will be motorsport.
Now, Ive always been pleased with my 35mm m.sport pics, so hope to improve from here.
However, Ive been inspired by the likes of Poah,Carter,Gravy et al to try and do more with the camera.I have ordered Langfords Basic Photography because my knowledge of the actual basics is poor.
What else can I do / read to improve my beginners skills ?
Same thing goes for ps too, I have the dummies guide, but could do with more of a "how to" style book.
Any pointers or ideas welcomed.

Practice, practice and practice some more! The joy of digital is that you can see the results straight away together with the settings you used. You can instantly adjust the settings to get the desired results.
I've got a few PS website tutorial links hidden in the depths of my favourites somewhere. It all depends what sort of thing you're wanting to do in PS.

On the book front, I got two Bryan Peterson books for Chrimbo: Understanding Exposure and Learning to See Creatively. I'd recommend both in addition to the Langford book which I've already got.
On the PS front, I only have Elements for the moment, but in general the Scott Kelby books seem to be good. I have Elements 4 for digital photographers and it does follow a very practical how to style and seems pretty comprehensive.

www.luminous-landscape.com/ is worth a look and has some PS stuff.
I suspect that if I had bought one of the books or ebooks specific to my D70 when I got it that I might have got up the learning curve of some of the digital aspects a bit quicker than trial and error plus Web research.
www.nikonians.org/ is worth a look too.
I found Digital Camera mag. to be very help helpful as well. I'm sure you could find everything they cover elsewhere but the combination of magazine and video tutorials for PS stuff on the included CD was really good.
