I'm not sure if any of you saw it, but on waking the dead last night one of the villans printed a picture in quaters on a4 then stuck them together to make a bigger version.

This got me thinking of a large scale thing I could do for the childrens walls. does anyone know of an automated way of doing this (rather than cutting it into 4 in photoshop and printing them manually).

Cheers

i have used the rasterbator site to make a big poster in my room. it does make the photo into lots of dots amd the size of each dot changes with the brightness (ie, dark parts look dark because the dots are bigger therefore fill more space whereas light bits look lighter because more white from teh paper shows through) but it works well.

this is my poster (24 A4 sheets):

and this is what it looks like close up:

one main advantage of this type of image is that quite low res images can be made into big posters. if you want to make a normal big picture you will need more pixels

note, mine is also different because i used photoshop to put spot colour in it aswell.

There is a program that can do this without 'rasterising' your image, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. I have used it in the past, but it is no longer on my PC. I'll go away and have a think to see if I can remember what it was.

ETA I think it may have been Ulead Photoimpact. I ahd a copy of versio 7.0 that came as a freebie giveaway with one of the computer magazines.

David,

I'm pretty sure Qimage will do what you want.

Serif PhotoPlus 10 (and maybe earlier versions?) has a "Print Tiled Pages" option to create posters with overlap controls.
