FEBRUARY 2007 COMPETITION RESULTS
Discussion
OK - here we go. This was tough! I won't do honourable mentions because there are so many that I really liked (and also some who were not formally entered in the end), and you can all judge what you like. The scoring was genuinely very tight. My Mum also cast her eye over the entries and seemed to be broadly and in agreement so that's OK then. [UKBob's entry was not assessed by my Mum who is of a nervous disposition.]
THIRD place - Doodah's Gotham City Exige. I love it as a pic. It's arguable whether or not it meets the brief quite as well as some others, but it makes up for this in other ways (where was is it taken? - don't say Gotham).
SECOND place - cy88's Organic Motoring. I think this does a great job on the brief personally and the colour and tight crop of the final entry version works well.
FIRST place - Dogsey's Crocus. I think it would be difficult to argue that it is not beautiful, although some may say it's more expected than others. The composition works for me and I feel it's a technically excellent picture to boot (particularly like the capture of the detail in the snow and the droplets of course).

congrats to cy and dogsey, well done!
i thought it fit the brief neatly - beauty in an unexpected place. it's a building in manchester - no vehicles are allowed in normally, took me almost 18 months of trying to actually finally get permission.

Thanks v. much Stuart, and congrats to Dogsey, Doodah and all the other great entries.
I often drive by that Landie and it becomes more decrepid with each passing year. What is it that makes it cry out to be saved, when you clearly know it is beyond repair? I felt that there were just so many things wrong with the car, that it all ended up "just right". Beautiful decay!

OMG OMG OMG!!!!
Sorry for the late reply, I've been without an internet connection since Wednesday afternoon (darn BT!) and I never expected to win against such good entries from everyone else so it's taken me since getting my connection back at 10am this morning to actually come and look ... OMG!!!
Many thanks to Stuart B (and his Mum!) and to everyone for their kind comments.
Gawd ... now I've got to try and come up with a topic for March! Erm ... I'll have a thread up by Monday I promise.
Right, I'm off to have a little celebration drink now!
ETA: Is there a thread somewhere with all the previous monthly topics in it?
