I have redone my webiste, and on my PC it looks as I want it to.

I have been merrily sending the web address out, and today I was round at my sisters work doing some printing, and showed them the site.

Disaster - all looks really dark with unreadable text.

(They use Macs running IE)

So.

Please could you spare a moment, and click over to www.apictureofsuffolk.com and have a look at the homepage.

Can you read it OK?

(Also, any feedback gratefully rec'd)

Many, many thanks in advance

Chris

I can read it all fine (some stunning pics there mate). Only comment is that the photos are sometimes falling off the right hand edge (need a wider grey background) and I also REALLY wanted to get a closer view of some of the photos (i.e. link to a bigger pic)

Thanks Steve. Link corrected in the OP.

I am in the process of re-doing the image borders so that they don't "fall off the site"

Also, you should be able to click to a slideshow that is larger of most images.

I'll carry on investigating options to get larger images up.

Many thanks

Some really nice pictures there Chris, although the Aldeburgh slideshow doesn't seem to work for me - gets stuck with a black first image.

We're regular visitors to that part of the coast, will be back in Southwold for some photography (& beer) at Easter...

Hi,

I agree about the pictures falling off the right hand edge.

For example;
On the index page, is the coastal picture meant to have a black border around all 4 edges, or is the black meant to encroach into the grey backing as I have viewed?

This seems the issue with some of the pictures as Steveo has commented on already.

This problem seems to be corrected on the 'About' page, although this is a portrait picture as opposed to the others which are landscape.

Also is the 'Please have a look at my landscape images' on the index page meant to be in a larger text size or was it intended to just be in bold?

The site looks clean to use and it is easy to view and read the text. I was viewing the website in Firefox.

All in all I think that the website is very well presented, simple, but yet it doesn't need to be complicated.

Many thanks all.

I think I have implemented the changes

Still working through the images that need borders, have done the front page so far.

Your help is much appreciated.

Being picky; the underlining on the larger text sits quite a way below the word itself.

This is only in Firefox though. If I view it in IE then its fine.

I'll raise that issue with the guys that host & provide the back end engine for the site.

Many thanks

Hi Chris

Had a quick look. Looks fine and readable on Firefox and Safari on a mac.

However, In IE (5.02) on mac the text is black rather than white. The pics look fine but I can't get the slideshows to run. Then again IE for mac hasn't been developed beyond 5.02. I use it only for the (very), occasional site that doesn't display or work in Safari or Firefox.

Some nice pics there .

Guilty as charged! I have others as well (via PH's most recommended Register1!)

I have to say that the Image File solution for photographers is ruddy brilliant. It's not the cheapest, but then the ease of use & seamless integration to PhotoBox to auto filfil orders (if you want it) make it ideal for my wedding clients - I host the gallery and then "forget" it, and it "takes care of itself" so to speak.

Feel free to PM me via my profile if you want a more indepth chat.

Excellent stuff Chris..that was a very enjoyable 10 minutes.

On the "Ipswich to Felixstowe Run" segment, the third car (red American car)...I'm sure I saw that today on the M25.

Many thanks for all your help.

It seems that the fault lies with my Sisters Mac rather than my site - relief!

Thanks all for the comments & kind words. Much appreciated.

(paperbag - Keep checking back for updates! )
