I suggest we build a web page upon which a volunteer uploads the monthly results.

Benefits - hall of fame for previous winners and runners up, with a possible number of wins/mentions counter for those who (like mrs fish iirc) have had several mentions. The site would also help each months winner choose a new topic.

I seem to recall that someone has already done this? Was it Martin or Hankscorpio?

Edited to add that it was Hankscorpio, but that the site no longer seems to be active

PBase.com is $23 for 500Mb over 12 months - so not much over £13

I'll happily give free unlimited hosting to anyone who wants it for this purpose. I dont have time to manage any new projects (however small) hence Im not keen to take on the updating of the site myself.

Why not use gallery or one of the other web photo collection thingymabobbers - when the month has passed the winner has to upload their photo and it would all be under the control of a single user ID account. That way if they want their picture posted they have to do it..

The user account and password will be passed onto the next months winner.

I could do it if you want - drop me an email and I'll sort it out

It won't be a full pro website, but shouldn't be too bad!

Alternatively I am using pbase for my own stuff and have plenty of spare space at the moment. As it's only a once a month update am happy to create an album for all the winning images and also the list of topics

Cheers

Sounds good Would Pbase offer the best format for a table showing past competition themes, as well as all the runners up? Ive been there a few times, but am not familiar with their system. I envisaged a single blank web page per year, with months jan - dec, but then im also not prepared to help out paperbag so Im not one to talk, really.

Can anyone else comment on the Pbase system? If it would work well in terms of laying out the info then sure, go for it! And thanks for offering to help.

Pbase could work, with one album for PH photo and then having a sub album per month with the winner plus runners up within each sub album. However my attempt could be pretty amateur as I'm a bit basic with these things headache my skills are more Excel based I'm afraid boxedin

Miniman's likely to be more expert than me

Cheers CVP.

Miniman's offer sounds good, so are you up for the task then old chum?

Other than uploading the pics, the only thing you'd need to do monthly would be post a reminder link to the new winner, pointing him towards the PHphoto page and list of previous themes.

Certainly am. Any ideas for a site name / URL? Presumably Bob you can organise a domain name, or I could get one from Register1.

Cool. You could probably get one cheaper from Register1. If you supply the name, I'll sort out the hosting for you... but wouldnt it be cheaper for you to use a sub domain on an existing site? We only need 1 page per year, with pop-ups? Im happy to provide hosting either way, no worries at all on that note.

Don't mind paying the couple of quid for a unique name. Will definitely need the hosting though as I suspect the traffic could properly screw up my quota!

No worries. Well done for nominating yourself, email me when youve registered the domain and I'll sort out hosting for ya

I think a big thank you is in order for miniman yes Dont thank me though, as I wasnt exactly willing to do the job myself, yet I still had the cheek to bring up the subject!

Cheers Miniman

why not just a single stickied winners thread - no comments, just the picture, name and theme?

Copies of the winning pictures will still need to be hosted somewhere for consistency. Looking back at some of the older threads, a lot of the pictures have actually disappeared.
