OK, so I know this is very cheeky, but I'm hoping that in the spirit of PistonHeads, someone here will be willing to help.
My Grandmother passed away a couple of months ago, and as part of the clearance of her house, I've found some boxes of 35mm slides taken over the course of 20 years worth of holidays / special occasions etc.

I am aware that it is now possible to convert these slides to digital images to store on a PC and I wonder if anyone on here has the required scanner? that they would be willing to loan me.

Much beer would be provided / reciprocal help given

Feel free to flame me if you consider appropriate, but I've had a glass of vino and was feeling brave!!

Can do, Minolta scanner which was reasonable spec about 3 years ago. I'm based in SW London. It would be a bit of a bugger to post as it's quite bulky.

Thanks a lot, I'd be really gratefull, the location thing isn't so much of a problem as I'm in London regularly, whereabouts are you?

I'd offer to help, but I'm NW to your SW...

I have a two year old Epson Scanner (Perfection 1660 photo) that I paid about £80 for a couple of years ago.

It has a nifty 35mm slide/neg loader, and automatically chages the colours on negatives (or leaves them right for slides).

I'm sure you must be able to get something similar (or even better quality/faster) for about £40 to £50 nowadays.

I did thanks Chris, having major hassles with my IT system so e-mails are playing up.
I'm just waiting for confirmation that I do have to come to the city tomorrow.
Will endeavor to e-mail as soon as I know anything!

Epson Perfections are cracking scanners, worth investing in one.

One hint, though: don't stint on the scanning - scan at high res and high quality (TIFF, not JPG). Disc space is cheap, rescanning a slide that doesn't exist any more isn't.

Thanks for the offer Ross, but Chris sorted me out, lending me his scanner for the last 3 months. I dug the topic up to alert him that I was returning it in case he saw PH before his mail.

For the record we were talking about just shy of 1500 slides
(I also had 2500 negatives, but lost the will to live before starting them!!)
