Freeware Photo-shop Type Software

[coach]

Hi everyone

Lurker here on this bit of PH. Have to say there are some VERY gifted people on here!

I cant really justify the cost of Photo-shop or similar profession photo editing software so can anyone recommend any freeware and easy/intuitive to use software that can be downloaded legally?

Thank you for your help

Try The Gimp ... www.gimp.org/

Second the GIMP. It takes quite a bit of learning, but once you've got the hang of it it's very powerful.

Here is another option for your consideration:

Download photoshop.

Try GIMPSHOP , its basically the Gimp but in a similar format to Photoshop.
Which means alot of the online tutorials & books for photoshop will be easy to follow.

It will also open photoshop files with the layers intact.

visit: http://gimpshop.blogspot.com/

They have a You Tube video which shows you how to install it on a Win XP pc.
Below that are the download links.

Enjoy.

I can only second the Gimp for recommendation. It's free, because it's opensource and it works on all platforms. Don't worry about Photoshop; it's a very good software too, but very expensive to use legally. In my experience, people who started with the Gimp tend to have no animosities using Photoshop occasionally.

Here are some very good tutorials to get started with basic or advanced functions: www.gimp.org/tutorials/
