EOS 400d with the ef-s 18-55 kit lens is down to £399.97 from Tesco direct with a further £50 cash back from Canon. Seems like a bit of a bargain.

Beware Tesco direct & special offers!
FYI I and on cheking with my card provider, others too have had had the transaction marked as "requesting confirmation from retailer". This is due to a) Tesco direct being a relatively new online retailer & b) that a high proportion of stolen & cloned cards are used by the t-leaves for high value electrical & camera purchases. So, my 400-D order was marked for confirmation from Tesco & guess what, a) they didn't get back to Amex & b) neither Tesco nor Amex communicated with the customer. Furthermore, 2 days after placing the order I checked the online order status at the Tesco web site & it still said "processing" so I rang customer services to be assured the order was fine & all was progressing satisfactory. Only when it didn't arrive on the due-date & I called back did I find out what was happening. To say I'm un-impressed with Tesco direct is putting it mildly.

The Tesco offer was for body and lens - the Jessops one is body only so no match! nono

I tried to order more than one from Tesco - the site accepted my order and card details but they phoned me up a day later to say my order was cancelled because it was restricted to one per customer. Went back online to find 'out of stock'! banghead

The lens is practically worthless anyway. Available for about £2 on eBay.

Thanks Andy for the link.

I'm about to order a 400d with Tamrom 55-200mm as my first DSLR. I've a Casio Exilim at the mo and it's time to move on plus with Le Mans around the corner I'm gonna want better shots than the last time. Works out to £500 all in plus more for a CF card and filter plus perhaps a monopod.

Would the 200mm telephoto be suitable for Le Mans with a monopod or do you guys advise a different setup?
