VR or not VR ?, that is the question

[Patrick1964]

I'm looking to buy a 55 - 200mm Nikon af-s lens to go with my wife's D40 and my D80. Is the VR lens worth the extra £36 I'm being quoted ?

Thanks

ALL OTHER FACTORS BEING EQUAL the answer has to be 'yes'.

With a x 1.5 crop factor, VR will be really useful towards and at the longer end of that lens.

It's worth double or triple that, IMHO.

For the sake of £36 its a no brainer. Just dont rely on VR when only a tripod will do....
