Popped over to Harris ('cos the weather is good, and when the weather is good IMHO Harris is the best place in Britain, and maybe the known universe - however, I should point out that when it's raining it's the worst - NOTHING to do there at all).

Anyway. Took a whole bunch of pics... these are the first few that stuck out as I downloaded.

I've taken a stroll on the first beach. Mid-July. Bright sunshine. No-one else there...because it was absolutely bloody freezing!

Truly fine photography as always, Mr Carter. Makes me want to visit the Highlands again...again.

Very nice pics,
I like the oyster catchers best.
A pair of nice birds in a picture allways helps.
Need to get over there myslef, where do you get the ferry from?

Uig on Skye or Ullapool. As I say... you NEED the sun there.

Lovely...

You'll have to get over to Mull, lovely in places. And if you time it right it'll coincide with the annual rally.

Currently hoping to tour bits of Scotland that my Dad hasn't visited yet with him - I haven't been to Harris and I know he hasn't done any of the Islands so it looks like Harris is my kind of place.

No problem

(That was this morning BTW... already seems like a lifetime ago)

BTW In case anyone is remotely interested, the above pic is looking from Harris to Taransay - where the BBC filmed the first 'reality' TV prog - Castaway.

The really bonkers thing about Taransay is the Ferry terminal on Harris... shown below with the tractor tracks that drag it about. No duty free here.

I have one word to say to you... Mishnish.

I think it was going to Mull that made us decide we wanted to live up here. Completely different mind set (Like waiting for 10 mins behind a car on a single track road whilst the driver spoke to a friend - in London that would cauuse GBH!)

What rally, when?

Some really stunning shots.

You could easily confuse the water in the the first pic with the carribean or somewhere.

Stunning shots and an absolutely stunning place. As I remember Conde Naste always placed beaches up around Scotland as some of the best in the whole of Europe - maybe not the warmest places though. Really can't wait to get up there and have a tour around.
