What's it worth, I am just about to advertise my non IS Canon EF 300mm F2.8L Ultrasonic Lens, this is not a for sale ad but a request for advise.
The lens is in excellent condition having had a major refurbishment & calibration last June totalling £1100, the body is great condition with a small amount of paint detaching by the mode switches, which I have touched in to stop any further paint detachment.
The lens is tack sharp and by far the best lens I have ever owned, so good I updated to the IS version.
Not sure of it's age but being non IS would put it pre 99 (I think)

Dealer prices are around the £1700 mark for examples with some signs of use if thats any help to you...

As you's is probably in better condition i'd have said somewhere between there and £2k at a guestimate.

The new IS version can be had brans new for £2999 these days typically.

He's pretty much spot on.

£1700 to £2000 depending on condition. The L lenses hold their value extremely well if they're in good condition.

In which case, don't believe what the others say. In the condition you describe, and for such a useless lens, I'd say the going price is around £15. Can I have first refusal
