Hi everybody,

I have been offered one of these (that's a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor to give it its full name) at a rediculously low price. And what I wanted to know is - should I buy it?

At the moment, I have the standard D50 kit lens, plus the 55-200 DX, and I mainly use the camera for motorsport events, plus landscapes every now and then. Do you think that my use justifies the new lens, and is it considerably quicker and smoother in focussing? Or should there be an alternative that I should consider?

Ta,
Iain

"VR" and "ridiculously low price" = "buy it"

All things being equal - go for it. The earlier non-VR is a beauty. yes
