I spent yesterday afternoon at Brands with a pal and his Sport 300. Took along my 2 week old 400D and new Sigma 70-300mm APO DG, what do you think?

I prefer the more sideways shot: (but I guess that's through a fence ?)

Nice shots. I really like the second one.

I reckon they'd benefit from a bit of leveling and a little boost in the contrast though.

Nothing wrong with them that a little tweaking won' sort. 60 seconds gets this...

Good photos (biased because I love Esprits)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Martin can you tell me what you did to that photo. Am assuming that the first one was straight out of the camera. I have just started with Elements and had some success with a bity of post-camera tweaking, but nothing like that.

thanks

Martin...use google to find some tutorials on Levels and Curves. The other things I did was raise the saturation a tad and sharpened it with Unsharp Mask.

HTH...

Thanks - I've tried levels with "some" success (after a very good course at Peak District Photography Centre, which actually encouraged me to try to use Elements which I had previously been wary of after a couple of experiments), but not curves

To be honest you can get away without curves untill you get really picky. Levels-Saturation-Sharpen will get you a good result every time...after that it's just guilding the lily.

Great shots, great compositions. Its always worth the walk upto druids to shoot from there.
I'd echo the comments about postprocessing, a little tweak with levels and sharpening will really add punch to the images.

Lovely shots, and positive for me, I've just purchased the same lens!

Fingers crossed I'll come up with some decent images at some point this year!

Great shots - plenty of roll in the Esprit though?

Like the pics.

as a question - the reflections in the black paintwork coupled with the windscreen reflection make the car stand out a little less from the background (seen most in the head on shot) - I get the same thing with mine, but have seen photos with the reflections cut down a lot - is a polariser likely to improve this or is it just very expensive glass (i.e. lenses) that sort this out?
