Not really an extravaganza to be honest. Having been through my holiday shots I was pretty pleased with some of the results and thought I'd share them. C&C would be welcome.

Numbering them will help us point to the ones we love.

#6 with the sky, mountains and sea does it best for me....the richness of the colours jumps out of the screen.

All are great, but I think the first few could do with a hint more exposure...may just be me though.

Fabulous place, captured beautifully. Love your compositions.

Agree with nick, the first one isn't up to the standard of the rest. 2,6,9 and 12 stand out for me, nice images.

all good but 5,7,9,10 do it for me. Fab.

Now where's my passport!

ETA - whenever I take sand pics (both here and overseas) I try REALLY REALLY hard not to get footprints in shot. Probably just me, but I think 'fresh' sand is so much more evocative (Castaway and all that).

Hey Emma. I almost bought a GT. Very nippy I thought - esp round town. Couldn't quite handle the engine note (and really needed a 4X4). How are you finding it?

ETA... sorry for the thread hi-jack

Thanks for the kind comments guys. This was my first holiday away with an SLR and having spend a fair bit of money putting together a kit I was more than a little nervous about whether the results would justify the expenditure. Seeing the results was a bit of a relief.

bow bowI am not worthybow bow

I think you're probably right about the fresh sand being more evocative, but while these beaches weren't exactly crowded, on some of the more scenic ones there was no chance of finding fresh sand. For number 7 I had to wait a while for 2 kids to run around the corner and out of sight

1 was a stunning view as we came down from a high area but by the time we found somewhere to pull over clouds had come in and robbed it of some of its impact.

Nikon D80. Great camera. Wish I'd bought it 6 months ago. Would have saved me some money.

We stayed at the Hilton. Excellent hotel. Would have liked the beach to be a little bigger but I'm probably just nitpicking. You did need to be up around 8 if you wanted a good spot on the beach but there still lots of spaces available through out the day. Restaurants were really good if a little pricey (that pretty much sums up the hotel - very nice but not cheap). Definately recommended for a honeymoon. Let me know if you want any other information.

You can see a few more pics of the hotel if you'd like:

Love the shots but Number 1 would benefit from a top and bottom crop.

The trees in the foreground and most of the clouds are uninteresting.

All the others are fantastic though.

The more I look at number 1 the more I'm inclined to agree with you. I'm thinking it may benefit from a mild HDR treatment to add a little impact to the sky as well.

A fair bit because the shot was underexposed and tilted at angle (having been taken from a boat). The steps I applied in Lightroom were:

Crop - straighten horizon
White balance - warm it up a little
Exposure - correct underexposure
Black clipping - photo lacked contrast
Vibrance - i wanted the colours a little more saturated

After that I applied a little sharpening in PS before uploading.
