Quick question on the Sigma 18-50mm F/3.5-5.6 DC Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras and the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Zoom Telephoto Lens

Do these have an autofocus motor in the lens or if not are they driven by the camera? I'm slightly confused as the sigma site only references the HSM motors which i don't think that these have....

Thanks

I think any EOS-fit Sigma lenses (or any other makes) have an AF motor, but conventional motor (non-HSM) is slower and noisier.

Are you sure? I had it for Nikon and there certainly is no AF motor in the lens... it's very cheap (certainly not bad for the price) and I don't think for the price it could have a motor...

Canon EF bodies do not have built in AF motors, so every AF lens needs its own motor, so sigma put in cheap ones for low sepc canon lenses.

Ah OK. I stand corrected in that case! Sorry for potentially causing confusion.
