I've got a photo which was taken on someones mobile which I really want to print out, but its only 320x240 pixels frown Is there any way of doing something to this photo to make a decent size print out (i.e. standard photo).

Its a really special photo, just captured the moment prefectly and I really really want a print frown If anyone can do something I'll be eternally grateful to you smile

there are programs designed to do this (eg pro poster) but i have no experience of them so i dont know if it will work well with something starting that size

I think it'll be a miracle to make that size suitable for 6x4(?). But we could always try. Do you want to post it here or send it to me?

you could try printing the size it is and then rescanning it at hi-res - it's never going to be great but it won't pixelate that way...

Just resize it with bicubic interpolation in Photoshop/PSP. That will stop it looking pixellated.

I remember someone posted something about scaling up was best done in small stages, multiplying by 1.41 a few times instead of going straight to the final dimensions you want. I've used that method when scaling up from 3000x2000 to 8000x5333 using bicubic (smoother) then re-sharpening and it worked well for making slides. However that was from a comparatively large original there's not a lot to work with from 320x240 pixels so you may have to squint a bit at the print !

I think the software I use increases the size by 10%. Just as you said, it works pretty well if the original file is large, but it is pretty hard working from 320x240 as there's not much detail to start with.

Christian,

Have emailed you my efforts at enlargment. As Gemm said I think the original level of detail was too low for a good 6*4 but hopefully our efforts are good enough so that you get a print decent enough to remeber the moment.
