Austrian Alps Bike Tour
Discussion
I just got back this weekend from a bike tour in the Austrian Alps and it has to be one of the most amazing bike trips (or any trip), I've ever made. The scenery was simply out of this world!!!
Here's just a tiny flavour of what I saw. Mind-blowing! (Just check out the twisties on those roads!!)

Yep, great place
(nice pics too). Roads look a little wet in places though, but you seem to be travelling light.
I have to ask, what's the foam for?
The roads were soaking on the way up and I had my girlfriend on the back (hence the foam as I was getting a headache with the constant helmet banging!) Bless her though....she must have been freezing with the helmet she was wearing!!!

However by the time we got to the top, the sun came out and the roads dried up. What took about 25 minutes to climb, took just over 10 minutes on the way down although that was a little scary at times as the road was still pretty greasy and the drops were about 1000 feet! Not my idea of fun falling off that!!!!
I recognise that!
Bit of Grossglockner there?
Didn't see much of it myself... and was VERY glad I was in a car not a bike...

Really wasn't very nice actually. When we started going up the weather was nice, but at the top it started to close in, so we left. Before we got to the bottom, the temp had dropped to -2, the cloud removed almost all visibility annd we were almost blind, crawling along relying on TomTom to show us which way...

Well if we're all having a go

Truly awesome place.
This bit was amazing! Those cobbled stone roads are a total arse on two wheels though! Especially when you are riding a bike with 110ft/lbs torque that weighs about as much as a door in a normal car!!!

And you have four wheels, whereas I have 2!

Looks like you had beautiful weather though! It was ok for us, but bloody windy and very cold!!!
