I have a few questions on this topic I was going to ask, but found them already been answered on this thread here by some very helpful people. smile

Being a bit of an amateur photographer I realise how there's so much more to it than simply having some great kit and that's very much in the front of my mind as I'm looking.

One thing that hasn't been asked though is the venue. We've got 2 rather unusual venues (1 for ceremony & 1 dinner) and I'm wondering if a good photographer would simply adapt to these or I should focus my search on local ones who have used these before?

Thanks

Ben

PS. Got engaged on the weekend! smile

Personally I would think someone who had used the venue before would be an advantage, although I imagine a good photographer would be able to adapt. No expert on these matters but thought I'd pass on my Congratulations!!

Thanks! smile

Actually I think I've almost decided.. I *love* this guy's stuff: http://www.pr-weddings.org/wedding_photography/pho... Really REALLY like the style!

Looking around local photographers sites who've been in the 2 venues and they're simply not as good. Nice, but don't really capture the occasion as I good as the above.

Will get in touch and have a chat I think. Good to have a starting point! smile

About the venues; I spent 2 hours in one of them trying as hard as I could to capture it, but just couldn't get to what I was happy with. Far too complicated!

The site you link is actually a Pistonheader - dcwatpr

Congrats on the engagement, popped the big question myself a fortnight ago, we're off to Vegas later in the year to do the deed.

Hi Ben,

Glad you like the stuff, I understand you hav been talking to Pete this afternoon.

Honestly I would say that it is not a problem having not seen the venues, but it is easy enough to arrange a visit beforehand. Out of interest, what is it that you think is unusual - I do ~50 weddings a year so I have seen quite a few set ups.

Hi Dave,

Yes the PDF examples are excellent. Really like what we've seen!

The difficult venue is Greenwich's Painted Hall. Due to the light and the height it seems so difficult to capture. I've not seen any decent shots of the place ever. My attempt is here but very disappointing.

Anyway, will make an appointment and have a detailed chat smile

Thanks

Ben
PS. Other venue is bloody easy to make look great!

Hi Ben

Congratulations, well done.

It is to my eternal regret that we did not have a better photographer at our wedding, our venues were stunning (the great hall at kings in cambridge) but the chap we used was frankly rubbish, we never ever look at our official photos.

Luckily we have a couple of friends who are snappers by trade, they took a few which saved the day.

If we had our time again we would make sure the photographer was top draw and also have a better car smile I presume you have that sorted smile

Only if you want lots of white-out and spot colourings!

If you want to spend quite a bit, check out: www.lovegroveweddings.com though, from what I've seen dcw@pr can offer just as good smile

Wow, that's a nice looking building. I should point out that I am primarily a wedding photographer and not an architectural one, but we will talk about it in more detail later. Let me know when you want to come by. Oh, and congratulations too!

Of course it is all subjective, but these people, IMO, are very very far from the best, going from what is on their websites...

I've also seen disappointed couples and am keen to not save a few pennies and lose the memories. Thanks for the comments.

Better car? Not really... I'm hiring a RouteMaster biggrin

Nice.

This one is of interest - quite difficult (IMHO) due to the difference between the strong light through the windows and dark interior. That's the sort of challenge the Painted Hall will present.

Oh, and I see you have a RouteMaster pic in there! smile
