Ok guys, seeing as pistonheads is the fount of all knowledge I have a serious camera question here. Just bought a new Digital SLR (nothing too fancy, just a Sony A100 smile ) and now have an abundance of pre-digital camera gear taking up space.
Does anyone have any clue what value to place on the equipment listed and pictured below. And more importantly where is the best place to sell it all?. Know the obvious answer is ebay, but to be honest that is not really an option as shipping costs would be highly prohibitive based on the wieght of the carry case alone, let alone when its full of the gear....

Olympus OM2 Camera
Olympus 50mm lens (Standard)
Olympus colapsable lens shield (I think thats what its called, check the photos)
Olympus remote attachment
Olympus T20 Electronic flash
2x Olympus accessory shoes (2 types)
Olympus original leather camera satchell
Vivitar Automatic Tele convertor
Vivitar 28-210mm Zoom Lens
Komura 75-150mm zoom Lens
All the manuals for the above
Leather covered Aluminium travel box

On with the pics....

Like I said I'm looking for ball park figures of what sort of value to place on the lot or individual pieces and where the best place to try and get these these figures?

I've also decided to sell my Minolta Dynax 500si Super Body (only). This currently has a flat battery but that is easily rectified so prices based on the battery being present. So any idea what to ask for that?

Any clues?

If you've got an eBay account, search the items then click "completed items" on the left, will give you an indicative idea of what they are going for there. I'd imagine you'd get slightly more in the local rag, but it would take much longer to sell because of the smaller audience.

How heavy would you reckon is actually is? I work with parcels, shipping probably wouldn't be too bad, if you're looking at ~20kg the price would be around £25 next day delivered. I would imagine someone on eBay would pony up the cash, as that is a particularly swish carry case you have there

I've actually just acquired a Nikon F65 35mm body, to go with my original D50 and lenses, my "new" D1x, and other assorted bits (like tripods/monopod).

Would have cost fifty to sixty quid on eBay, free to me.

It's gotta be Ebay. Buyer collects is always worth a punt (unless you live near me). You set the transpot costs, so if you set at (say) £40, then the punter will know what they will have to pay 'over and above'.

And just as an addendum... IMHO - the lot will be worth MILES less than you think, and what it's worth. The planet is stuffed with similar that nobody wants.

Don't worry, aiming my sights low anyway. Like I said, it's just taking up space and no longer required.

Right, off to check the 'bay....

You're looking at about £20 to ship then. I would say definitely try eBay, but perhaps post around some more forums like this one (sorry, I don't have any suggestions, perhaps check out the "resources" thread at the top for forums?) because although eBay is great you won't necessarily get as much as you would selling to someone who knows about what they're buying.

Or put it on eBay, then go mad publicising the auction in all the "For Sale" sections of photography forums smile

I'm afraid old 35mm stuff is worth very little. I'd suggest the case is probably worth selling on its own (may fetch more than everything else together!). You could split the lot, but it may sell better as a package. Make sure it's listed properly, in the correct area and ends at a sensible time when people can bid to get the most cash.

I have some lovely cannon kit like this and have decided that it will be worth far more to me in 20-50 years than it would be selling it now for £100-200.

Pack it all away with scilica bags and pop it in the loft.

If you forget about it, then one day your kids or grandkids will have a wonderful time finding it all. smile
