might help if you tell us where it is matt
this was at the midlands meet last night at the amber hotel in Derbyshire Nr matlock.
at scissorhands' response. You're a lovely man though Matt!Great shot! Good viewpoint and lovely light. I'd have got down a bit lower though to get rid of background intrusion and bright spot.
Did Jon take you out in it? Awesome, absolutely awesome machine.

with regards to the shot there is too much noise around the subject such as the cars in the background and to the right. Also the framing is off, center is not the important thing but leaving huge areas of non interest can be an issue (the right hand side which in this example has clutter in that isnt needed anyway)
I quite like the sun glare as it isnt too obtrusive but the image could do with some playing to try and improve the balance it isn't quite lifted enough either. HDR could work a treat on something like that but then hdr isnt really the answer

well dont worry about the camera as good equipment can only improve on a good photo
shooting into the sun is going to be hard to get a good balanced result as you'll just end up getting a bright spot then lots of dark, in your shot though its worked quite nice
the hdr stuff I mentioned is really just a technique that isnt the be all and end all but if you dont have flash or filters etc or want a more dynamic range it works good. Its 3 or more shots at different exposures which you then blend so you have detail in highlight, midtone and lowlight areas - it works really well where light contrast is high... dont worry about it
when taking a shot its ultimately down to if you like it but try and get as much crap out of the scene as possible (aim for all crap out!) - look for le gravy noires threads and tutorials (There are other people too to look out for his name springs to mind) as there was a recent thread with a cracking example of a nice car shot that was spoiled by a huge telegraph pole coming out of its rear quarter

my camera has a flash but not a big bad boy thing that lights all of nottingham in one flash, and whats a filter?shooting into the sun is going to be hard to get a good balanced result as you'll just end up getting a bright spot then lots of dark, in your shot though its worked quite nice

you can use different filters on your camera for different effect, they sit in front of the lens.
you can use colour filters, gradient colour filters (like top gear), uv, polorising, nd - the list is almost endless
or you can take several exposures and blend in post processing or do all or do none and just get the straight image
