I'll be there on Friday too. With my new 24-105 IS USM too if Park get their act together. Weather looks to be OK in the morning but nasty in the afternoon which is OK as i'm usually flaked out by about 1 anyway.

I'll be there all 3 days hopefully. If you see a nutter in a recaro-seated wheelchair, laden down with cameras, say hello!

I've never posted on the photo forum (not sufficiently happy with any of my results yet!) but I'll be down there on Friday too. If I get anything I'm happy with, I'll post on the subesequent 'Fotos from FOS' thread!

P.S. Waiting for my Times tickets too. Phoned their support line today to find out when to expect them. "Hopefully you'll have them by Friday" said the chap on the phone. rolleyes

2 1/2 days for me...arriving Fri lunchtime.

Camera all-set, inc. spare battery and nearly 10GB of memory!!! biggrin
But i've just realised I never bought the lens-hood for my 70-300IS, and ringing around they're out of stock everywhere. So if it DOES rain, I'm stuffed. Might have to go for a Jessops-special rubber hood...if I can find one of them locally! frown

Was tempted to go but as i still don't have the 1DMK3 and Goodwood's a fair hike from the frozen north i don't think i'll bother.

I had the same problem getting one for mine, none in stock anywhere.

After a bit of advice (one I can probably work out by trial and error once there, but nice to have an idea first so as not to swap lenses too often):-

Panning from the side of the course (probably near the bottom) - is a 70-300 on a D-SLR going to be too close-up even at 70? It's the best lens I've got, so would like to use it in preference to the others, but wondering if it'll be overkill for the hillclimb? Will I end up with 2/3 of a car in half my shots?

Thanks,

Martin.

I've been fine at smaller hillclimbs with an 80-200, so at goodwood distances you'll be OK with the 70 as you rarely get close enough unless you get up towards th etop of the hill.

Martin,

You'll be fine, to give you an idea here's a random one at 70mm from inside the bottom corner:

Cheers guys...saves me swapping lenses. The 28-135 is the better focal range, but it's autofocus isn't as quick.

Yep, I'll be there Friday and Saturday, hope the weather stays fine. And I'm now a GRRC member so I can lord it up a bit, well maybe not, but I can get a nice breakfast at least smile
