Afternoon all,

Anyone know which is the best sort to get? Seems the choices are Sony or SanDisk both of whom offer different types like "high speed" (Sony) or "ultra/extreme" (SanDisk) which make things a little confusing confused

I'm looking for a 1Gb card for my new Sony DSC-W55 compact camera which (I think) can take any of these types. I was going to try eBay, but it seems there's loads of counter-fit memory cards there, so does anyone know a good/cheap place to get one from?

Hiya Moose,

I just got 2 1Gb gen Sony cards for my DSC-T1 to take to Le Mans. I'm not going to need both from now on, so as long as you don't mind the packing being opened, I'm sure we can come to a deal, if you're interested. Obviously not looking to make on it. Drop me an email.

I would advise against getting an "high-speed" or "extreme" memory unless you're intending to get a pro camera that uses MSPD in the future. IIRC most DSLRS don't even take full advantage of the write speeds of the highest speed memory, though there is a difference for highER speed memory in those cameras. But I digress.

In short, get whatever MSPD card is cheapest. There is going to be little, if any, difference in quality between Sony and SanDisk.

Cheers for that. I would have guessed the faster the better.

Thanks for the offer Kelvin, what sort is the card is it and how much were you thinking?

Here's a pic of the actual card. The packaging has been opened along the top.

It stands me at £6.
