Evening,

I'm off to portugal soon and am looking to get some insurance for my camera gear. My holiday insurance only covers individual items upto £250 which sucks. Can anyone recommend a decent company to cover my stuff?

Any help would be great as google is pushing out some crappy results.

Thanks in advance,

Neil

doesn't your home insurance cover items away from home upto a certain amount ?

I'm off to Portugal soon too! I got insurance through Glover and Howe in the end. After comparing a few different companies, G&H seemed to provide the best cover (ie photoguard dont cover loss IIRC). You can download their pricing structure from their website, although they've hidden it quite well :P £105 to cover £3000.

Will your insurers not "specify" the item at an additional cost? £250 is about right for unspecified all risk but most will then add specified items. Unless you have a student type/houseshare policy perhaps?

I just added "Personal Posessions" cover to my house insurance - this covers up to a certain amount of stuff anywhere outside your home, includes accidental damage. Seemed like the easiest/cheapest way to do it (cost me £30 extra for £3k worth cover), YMMV.
