canon powershot G7 Question

Two quick questions.
1. Does the camera automatically turn itself back on, I.E. if its turned on the battery is taken out then put back in the camera will come back on automatically
2. Can the camera be set up not to go to sleep after a certain time?

1: What's wrong with pushing the on button again?

2: On most cameras. It's just a battery save thing. Can turn it off on my old 3mp camera.

Cameras going to be 15m up a post doing time lapse. cannon cameras get 'tired' and need to be reset occasionally hence why i need the camera to come back on automatically

Think this should work, not had mine long or had to do this.

Menu-tools-power saving= auto power down -then set to Off

ETA
Answer to first question, camera on, battery out, battery back in = camera OFF but lens still out. Only seems to come alive again after switching on again. HTH
