Visited Greys of Westminster a few days ago after recomendations from others on PH. I was all ready to spend some money on a D80 and just needed to make sure what kit lens to go for...

Half an hour later the (very) nice chap there had showed me both the D80 and D200 both with various fixed and zoom lenses. No pressure selling at all. At one point he even suggested that I go for the cheaper body and spend money on glass as and when I could afford. If only all shopping could be like this.

I think I might have talked myself into a D200 (with grip), 18-70mm 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.4.

Big thumbs up for service - just need to save up the reddies. They also offer 2 years guarentee.

When I was in the shop an order was phoned through for a photo shoot for Niomi Cambell for later that day.

O

ps Just had a look at second hand D2Xs bodies on eBay and am very tempted. mmm

I got my D2X secondhand from Grays, six weeks ago - you wouldn't be sorry. Might be worth watching the price slip a little bit between now and November - although I don't regret a penny. (I would still be sceptical about a fleabay purchase for a D2X though - go and handle the one you'll be buying, that's what I did.)

I feel even happier about the £200 I paid for my D1x body, chargers etc - the equivalent on the Grays website is £745.

I am sorry to gloat, but it does seem like I scooped a bargain.

If I were you I reckon I'd go with a D80 and better glass - either a 17-55 f/2.8 or a 28-70 f/2.8 - I really believe you'll benefit more from the better lenses than the better body.

Whatever you choose - enjoy! smile
