Mine also arrived and I still have issues with the noise
This taken at 200 ISO and there is already a bit of noise getting in... at 400 it's quite pronounced. Other than that I'm pleased with it. Lots going for it.

Interesting thread! I'm in the market for a P&S but can't choose betweeen the Caplio R6 and the Canon IXUS 75 to compliment my 20D and 1D MkIIn. I want an R6 rather than an R7 as I'm getting sick of the marketing people ruling over the tech people by wanting more and more mp despite the fact that quality suffers as a result due to the small sensors, tho appreciate the R7 sensor is a bit bigger I understand so probably balances out.
I would be interested to hear what you think of the flash on this R7, reviews I have read say it is a bit weak, and it's the only thing stopping me from buying one instead of the Canon, the noise I can just about live with since the other features such as the good zoom lens is a major plus point and potentially outweighs the flash niggles.
Stupid to say but I can't honestly think of a more difficult purchase decision I have had to make. There is just too much choice but also too much compromise...
Which should I buy?!?

Snot that bad, if I were in the market I'd sniff one out, but who nose how it'll perform - I wouldn't turn a nose up at it.Atchoo-ly I have to say that it's all relative - the current "High ISO" thread nearly got me posting a D2X shot at High 2, but I bottled out because the noise is really.... "noticeable" for the type of image, and would just cause everyone to go "ha-ha, what a poor camera". So what are your "noise issues", GC? I mean, given that we all have some noise at some level, why is this camera/your images anything special - maybe you're not going to try and sell these images or enlarge to poster size on a regular basis? For websize I was more noticing the detail than the noise.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from such a small/cheap camera!
As you know we also have the Canon S80 - which takes really good pics... but it's twice the size and three times the weight, so can't really sit happily in a pocket... but quality is really good with very little noise.
Here are two images (both 'snapped' on full auto idiot mode). Now admittedly the canon (Mrs Get) was taken in sunlight - but its typical of the quality of image

The Ricoh (leaves - in dull conditions)... = noise creeping in even at low ISO (look at it 1:1)

Having said all that, I've only had it 18 hours, so I need to mess with the settings to see what it can do, and it has BAGS of great features (you can assign functions to a 'spare' button, so it's pi55 easy to overide exposure on the fly etc.)
