Chaps,

Picture the scene if you will; late Sunday night, being dropped home by the Mrs and grabbing my camera, coat and walking boots from the boot of her Mini after an afternoon of walking. I thought I had my arm through the camera strap so let go of the lens, cue slow motion moment as the camera fell, the amber sreetlights glinting off it's various facets as it tumbled earthbound, and a clatter followed by a censored as the reality dawned. As sure as the sun rises in the morning, the camera had suffered a fall onto asphalt.

Once I got inside I inspected the Nikon, and fortunately the adapter ring that is fitted to the end of the lens took the brunt, and is a bit bend. Phew I thought, and continued to take a few snaps to make sure all was well. Took some pics last night of my youngest brother's 18th B'day party, and the lens won't autofocus.

Any ideas or fixes chaps?
A good opportunity to buy a new lens to accompany the kit lens?

If you know anyone else with a Nikon I'd look to test the lens on another body, eliminate where the problem lies. You could take it to a camera shop if you don't have access to another body from anywhere else.

Yep, thats what I was thinking. There is a good inde camera shop in the centre of Derby, who I'd trust for an honest opinion.
