Heads Up - Tonights Full Moon - Get Your Camera Ready!
Discussion
Sky gazers can enjoy the "biggest and brightest" full moon of this year on Thursday and Friday due to its closeness to the earth.
"This week's full moon (October 25/26) will be biggest full moon of 2007," NASA experts said.
Experts cautioned against viewing the full moon through telescope without an appropriate filter as it would affect the eyes.
"Some full moons are genuinely larger than others and Thursday night's will be as much as 14 per cent wider and 30 per cent brighter than lesser full moons we've seen earlier this year," one of the NASA's alert web sites www.spaceweather.com said on wednesday.

I'll get some shots, just incase anyone misses it
Are you sure the weather will be cloud free up this way tonight ?
Anyone got some decent settings for taking photos of the moon ? I know that the camera metering won't work well, so it's probably down to manual settings and dust off the tripod!

It's been great the last few nights John, fingers crossed for tonight.
ISO100, 1/1000sec, f4.5, raw, manual focus, IS off, tripod, shutter release, mirror lockup should see you right John
p.s. here's my last full moon shot using the above settings with my 40D and 100-400 (just to let you see the outcome):ISO100, 1/1000sec, f4.5, raw, manual focus, IS off, tripod, shutter release, mirror lockup should see you right John

23 oct messing around with me new barlowe and a Skywatcher 200. I was having a a sod of a time with the focus. Sooooo remote lead. Still having issues but better results. Then thumbing the manul, shutter lock up. Superb. Just need to fine tune the focus. Completely forgot to try the camera lense on the tripod. Looks like cloud will stop me over the next few days.

Thanks,
took some shots before reading this, so had to reduce the exposure in PP. Came out OK for my first effort with the tripod and mirror lock-up I thought ?

It's a bit chilly out there tonight though, so I'd recommend wrapping up warm. I never ventured more than 2m from my back door

Cheers
Used the 100-400@400mm - first time I've felt thew need for an even longer lens.
Still clear skies up here with the odd whispy cloud that blows past from time to time. Quite surprising, as it's been cloudy here most of the day.
