Is this camera worth

£200?
My neighbour has allowed me to use his old DSLR for the past few months under the pretense that I purchase it from him.
The camera is a Canon EOS D30, not knowing much about cameras, other then point and click, is this worth £200?
He wishes to for me to purchase it and the price will include the camera body, batteries, charger and possibly two lenses. I think it is the 18-55mm and 80-200mm.
Any thoughts, I like the camera but am I being ripped off? He can be a little shrewd with his pennies.

Sounds like you are getting ripped off mate, canon don't make an EOS D30. You sure it isn't a canon 30D and Nikon D30 chopped together?
They don't anymore, but they used to!

They're a bit rubbish compared to modern machinery. £200? No chance.
Bugger. Too slow TWICE

If you get the two lenses with it, I reckon it's worth a punt.
I think it is the 18-55mm and 80-200mm.18-55 is a kit lens, and can be had for peanuts. Not sure on the 80-200, but I’ve seen a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM for sale for £250 secondhand.
Personally I think there are better deals out there…
I've got a D30 and they're decent cameras. Certainly a lot better built than something like a 400D. Bear in mind they're a few years old and the resolution can be bettered by some cameraphones now, but the equivalent to this rig now would be something like a 40D (read big money).
Bodies on their own go for about £100 so £200 with a couple of lenses looks a little optimistic. If you want a really beefy feeling camera, a 10D body would probably be a better buy.

The EOS 10D can now be had for around £220 and its a cracking camera, put another £60 towards and get yourself the Canon 50mm Prime F1.8 mk2 lens...its a good walkabout lens, is pin sharp and creates a lovely feel to the shots. Buy new lenses when you have the funds

don't get blagged by the resolution race....camera phones and compacts in general have loads moremegapixels than thier lenses can actually resolve. it's all a big marketing gimick.a DLSR even with 'el cheapo' lenses will produce FAR superior lenses.
the only thing that would put me off buying an older or budget camera is the small sensor and the exessive DOF and cropping caused by it.
in my experience commercial clients have been more than happy with images from my old 10D

A friend of a friend has a 1D mk2 and a 10D as a backup camera...funny thing is that he prefers the 10D and sells shedloads of images taken on the 10D!!!!
The key is buying a good camera, but a bunch of shithot lenses
