Thumbing through "The Scots Magazine" reading an article on Torridon and I think it's summed up Sheildaig in a sentence.

"Here is Shieldaig, the most seductive single street in the land."

Got to agree with them there..

Hey... and that's without the red light in my window!

Plockton & Shieldaig are (IMHO) the prettiest villages in Highland Scotland, but if you want fuel... you're screwed. yikes

Shameless plug:

For those that don't know Shieldaig here are a couple of pics taken outside and of the local pub:

Tony

Mid April - mid June is the driest/sunniest. March is a 'flip - a - coin' month as winter ends here 4 weeks later than in London - can be great, can be crap.

I always say this... If you can POSSIBLY wait until the last moment and look at the weather and book at the last moment, then between Easter and Whitsun, the B&Bs/holiday cottages will be largely empty and at some stage there will be fab weather (the place is Heaven at that time of year in good weather - completely empty with clear air and dry roads).

If you book far in advance, you'll just have to take your chance.

(BTW - If you book in August you'll just get caravans and midges - it's a CRAP time to be in the Highlands)

Also, if you want recommendations regarding accommodation, e mail me.

Actually, if you're going to do it, e mail me anyway!

Steve
Steve will tell you to stay where I did...and rightly so.

I've sat on both those benches in the first photo with a pint of Black Sheep-dip in front of me...the weather could best be described as "grey" at the time so could only just see the island eek

Martin.

ETA - I'll be back! biggrin

Thanks Steve - I certainly will do! thumbup

(Actually, what isn't helping is that I have your pic-a-day screensaver and so I'm solidly watching those shots go around and around the computer thinking "heaven...right that's it I'm going"!). OOooo which reminds me, I still didn't purchase what you mentioned if downloading the screen saver. Will do that!

Thanks for the advice
Tony

They are not letting 'stowage' photographers get them yet (you have to proove you are a full time pro photographer) - so new year at the earliest. Even then I'm a bit unsure, as none of my DX lenses will take advantage of the full frame sensor, so I'll have to buy at least one new lens.... and for that kinda' money I could buy quite a quick boat, an old Seven or 3 weeks in the Seychelles!

Does he not have two?

Yep... had a couple. Mark and I go back a long way. Unfortunately, I'm usually a long way behind Mark.
