I know there are a minority of people who think that Photoshop is evil, but sometimes it's a necessary evil. So lets see those before an after shots where it has made a positive impact.

Before...

After...

(Sorry about the size of these - 1000px wide - you may need to open them outisde the forum but at 750 the changes wern't as obvious)

As an non snapper/pshopper the left of the lovely Amanda's face looks to drawn, i can't work out if it's where you have darkened her hair or taken out the lighter mark, or was it her ear/earing..

Try opening outside the forum, I think what you are seeing is the compression to 750px winkbiggrin

The slight blemishes on her chin have magically disappeared. Photoshop isn't evil at all, in fact for me post-production is all part of the fun (not that I'm very good at it..... yet)!

The chin blemish removal was a good move. I am not so sure about the removal of the freckle near her right eye.
Overall what you have done is simple, subtle and not deceiving. She still looks like she does in the original. Just a bit brighter and smoother.

Again That's great, subtle work. thumbup
What did you do there? (I'm just learning) Was it more than curves?
ETA - and a crop, obv..

As you say, crop, highlight/shadow, but I used different amounts on different bits of the photo... (more on the grass foreground).

Back when I started, I used to have to get it right in-camera on a single piece of film. These days I'm often shooting elements to be put together by the client, and having to do less at a time makes it much easier to get those elements right.

Here's a recent job - the first is a montage of the bits I shot, the second is the finished article. All the PS work was done by the client - I can do some things OK but this was completely beyond me.

Sneaky. You would think it would be easier, quicker and cheaper to just stick the 3 bottles in some ice and take the photo properly in the first place

Part of the reason it was done this way is so that various European markets can add their local label variations to the blank bottles.

Having said that, if you could get a picture with all three bottles looking clean and sharp before the ice melted I'd be impressed!

I made this to show a friend the benefits of RAW and under-exposed shot rescue.
But is shows the difference photoshop can make too.
The first shot is straight out of the camera, the second is after passing through
Lightroom to adjust the exposure, the last is a bit of contrast/colour balancing
/sharpening tweakery in photoshop. I've probably gone too far, but i quite like it.
