Which one to get?

D40 seems the best, nd as i's for my mate he can borrow my lenses etc, where's the cheapest and most reliable place to get one?

Thanks,
Dan

D40 makes some nice images, but be awaer of its shortcomings before you buy.

Check the review of the d40 on http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond40/
The first page explains the limitations of the d40 (and d40x).

(In a nutshell - the only lenses that will autofocus on the d40(x) are AF-S and AF-I lenses.
The AF lenses (including some nice nikkor prime lenses) wont autofocus - This is because the AF lenses don't have their own focusing motor. Normally they would power their focus using the drive pin from the camera body, but the d40(x) dosn't have a drive pin.)

Depending on how you use your camera will decide if this is an issue to you, or not. smile

Also no bracketing, no mirror lockup, no Depth of field preview.

All usefull, all very easy to impliment and either free or almost.
