Some sensible ideas for all of us in particular price ranges. There are lots of "what camera" and "what lens" threads so, ignoring cameras and lenses, I thought we could help each other with ideas for our loved ones/friends/pets/ etc to buy us for Christmas pressies.

So, categories:

£10-£25
£25-50
£50-100
£100-250
£250-£500

Things I had in mind were accessories either for helping with taking the shots or once they've been taken (anything from studio to 'the field').

Those of you who can't live without something you've already got, then please feel free to contrbute.

At the bottom end of the scale (where I suspect most christmas presents reside) my Sto-Fen Omni Bounce is indispensable. You do need a flash first though. About £16

There aren't really any small items that I need, so my xmas list will be mainly made up of photography books.

My sis got me one for my birthday which is called 5000+ days, and it's full of hundreds of photojournalism shots, mainly gritty stuff from war torn places around the world. Some of the images are a bit depressing tbh, but they all tell interesting stories.

I'm steering away from books that tell you how to do stuff and am more interested in books with inspiring images in them.

I can recommend a Lowepro Slingshot bag. I got one for my Birthday not so long ago, and I have to say I'm dead chuffed with that. It's in the £40-50 bracket I think.

Every photographer with a Hasselblad needs one of these tools in their bag. You might never jam the camera whilst miles from anywhere, but if you do this can save a shoot. At less than £15 delivered I'd certainly recommend it.

Only if you fall in to the bottom of my categories (£10-25) and in return, I get some of your talent wink

decent 50mm prime? (assuming you've got a full frame SLR)
I get loads of use out of my 50mm 1.4 usually the image quality is fantastic for the money and you get a really classic field of view.
if you're use to using zooms they can be quite liberating to use.

If you have an SLR what about some cokin type filters & a holder etc

Do you print pics at home? I find the small slide rule type cutter very useful for trimming pics etc

remote control for your camera?

I would like a 40D if your listening Santa! to replace my 300D which has been around the clock about 4 times!
