Right, breaking my photography virginity here, so be gentle with me. Have posted many photos on PH before, but only snapshots of cars in the motoring section. This is my first foray into this dedicated section with a more serious effort for C&C.

Basically I have recently purchased my first DSLR, and as such it pretty much accompanies me everywhere at the moment as I play around and get used to it. Anyway, I took it to work with me this morning, and managed to get this shot out of the window overlooking the river, at about 7.30 as the sun started to come up.

Only work in photoshop was to remove a few birds in the sky, as they looked like specks of dust; cropped a small amount from the bottom as it was just dead space; and finally dodged (or is that burned?) a little of the silhouetted buildings to bring up a bit of detail. The colours in the sky are exactly as it came out of the camera.

What do you think?

I think it's lovely. If you'd been in a pretty place it would have been really lovely!

Keep up the good work!

Sorry, is that the accepted etiquette - I didn't realise.

It was taken with a Canon D40 with the 'kit' lens, 17-85.

1/30 at f5.0 and ISO 200.
