Hi,
I want to buy a camera that can be mounted on my car to use on the racetrack.
Anyone got any suggestions?

It would be probably fair to say that you could mount pretty much any camera on the outside of a car, as long as the mount was suitably sturdy. The thing that is probably more important is using a camera that has the facility for you to attach a remote shutter release, that can be operated from within the car.

If you give some idea of your budget, I'm sure someone will be along with a suitable suggestion.

I just want the best camera that is available.
I have been looking and I have found a web site that sells motorsport cameras, I'm not sure if that is the best thing to go for or just a mount for a camera I already have.
What do you think?

Depends what camera you already have, it may be plenty good enough!

Do you mean a stills camera or a video camera?

If the latter then buy a bullet cam from www.rfconcepts.co.uk (or similar) and connect it to a camcirder with AV in. If the former then buy the best camera you can afford with a remote shutter release.

That was easy!

Nikon D3 probably one of the best:

Not cheap but good.
